One on One With Daniel Piorkowski
WE Spoke to Taylors Lakes Local and Gold Coast United Defender Daniel Piorkowski about his move away from Taylors Lakes to the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast.

The former Melbourne Victory player and young Socceroo was signed by the Gold Coast club late last year after spending some time trialing with English 1st Division club Derby County, before returning to the A-League with the Newcastle Jets.

Spending all his life in taylors lakes, the local star has made the big move joining A-league newcomers, Gold Coast United on a two year deal. He is currently playing with Socceroos star Jason Culina and New Zealand international Shane Smeltz.

We had a brief chat to Daniel in regards to his move up north and what the future holds.

Q. How have you found the change, moving away from your home in Taylors Lakes, into a beautiful beach side apartment on the gold coast?

The move has been tough, as it is the first time I have really moved out of home. Having said that, I have settled in well and I'm loving the relaxed beach culture up here. The weather is magic, it makes getting out of bed easy in the mornings. Why wouldn't you love being in a place where it's 24 degrees in Winter.

Q. What do you miss most about Taylors Lakes?

All my family and friends that live in the area, It's been great so far, I have had a lot of friends and family visit me, I'm looking forward to playing against Melbourne Victory and catching up with everyone.

Q. What was your favorite hang out in taylors lakes

Linear Park, (Chichester Way) this was where i spent most of my child hood growing up, it was also a great place to take the dog for a walk.

Q. Your teammate and Soccerroo Star Jason Culina actually also spent a lot
of time in the taylors lakes area as a youngster. He attended Mary Mackillop
primary school in keilor downs, have you spoken to him about this?

Yes, it was actually brought up in one of the first conversations with him. I went to Mary Mackillop primary school and Jason was in the same year level as my sister Alex. He seemed to remember the area well, considering he has spent the last 10 years Playing professionally in Holland.

Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Up until now there hasn't been to much spare time due to the heavy work load in pre season training. But whe I get a chance, i enjoy playing golf, going to the beach and reading.

Q. You have had a lot of injuries in the past 3 years, how is the body these days?

Yes my history with injuries is not good. The past year has been really good though, i've pushed my body to the limits this pre season and have come through feeling fitter than ever. Hopefully that continues and I can play a full season which will hopefully include Finals.

Q. How are things looking for you with your Club Gold coast.

Things are looking good at this stage, the squad has great depth which makes things extremely competitive at training. I think having a Marquee player like Jason Culina has attracted a lot of positive attention for the club. There are a hand full of players which pick themselves and the rest have to fight for a starting position, which is the situation i'm in.

Q. What's the long-term plan for Daniel Piorkowski?

Long term plans would be to continue playing professionally, id be happy to stay in Australia as the A league is getting better all the time. Football is funny game though, you never know where it will take you.

Taylors Lakes Online would like to thank Daniel for his time, and look forward to speaking to him again.
